Hunter scores as Nova Scotia wins

The following is a round-up of Colchester County athletes' results Tuesday at the Canada Games on P.E.I.:

Boys Soccer - Truro's Sandy Hunter scored to help Nova Scotia to a 3-0 victory over the Yukon in the province's opening match at UPEI.
Ian Greedy claimed the other two goals.
The win places Nova Scotia in a tie with Quebec (1-0) at the top of the pool with the two sides meeting today at 5 p.m.
Truro's Rob Adams is a coach with the team.

Boys Team Golf - Truro's Eric Banks teamed with Digby's Eric Locke and Wolfville's Ally Tidcombe to fire 142 and nab a share of first place in Tuesday's opening round at the Brudenell River Golf Course.
Nova Scotia shares the top spot with Alberta and Quebec, while B.C. is one stroke back and Ontario is two. Round 2 is today at the course.

Girls Volleyball - Nova Scotia fell to 1-1 in a four-set loss to No. 1 ranked Ontario. Ontario took the match 25-22, 21-25, 18-25, 19-25. Truro's Ali Beaver had eight kills and seven digs, while Truro's Lauren Sears added nine kills.
Truro's Hilary Sears and Anastasia Callaghan are also members of the team, which is coached by Truro native Darren Russell and managed by Truro's Darren McCallum.
The loss drops Nova Scotia to third in their pool at 1-1 behind B.C. (1-0) and Ontario (1-0).
The girls are in action today at 2 p.m. against British Columbia before facing Newfoundland and Labrador at 8 p.m.

Swimming - Matthew Hunter finished fifth in his Special Olympics 100m freestyle heat at 1:20.90 and sixth in his 50m breaststroke heat in 1.00.21. In both events he failed to advance.
Hunter is in action today in the 50m

Boys Volleyball - Nova Scotia fell to 1-3 with a pair of losses.
The team was dispatched in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-17) by Ontario before suffering a 3-1 defeat (25-16, 14-25, 17-25, 20-25) to Saskatchewan.
Lower Onslow's Dale Worsley is a member of the team. Nova Scotia is in action today against Newfoundland and Labrador at 6 p.m.

Boys Baseball - Nova Scotia dropped a 7-2 decision to Ontario Tuesday to fall to 0-2 at the Games and into a tie for last in their pool with Newfoundland and Labrador.
Truro's Jason Davis is a coach with the team. Nova Scotia plays Quebec and Newfoundland today.
