Tennis club juniors fare well on home court

TRURO - Truro Tennis Club members had strong showings at the Tennis Nova Scotia Northumberland Junior Regionals recently at the Hubtown club.
Truro's Dennis Keaveney won both the under-18 and under-16 boys singles titles.
He used three wins to take the under-18 title in a round-robin and defeated Halifax's Walter Moody in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) for the under-16 crown.
Truro's Jeff Mantin was second in the under-18 division with two wins and Halifax's Josh Pugsley was third with a single victory.
Truro's Dean Richards took the under-16 consolation final with an 8-6 victory over Alex Hebert of Halifax.
Truro's Sander Manley fell 6-2, 6-1 to Moody in the under-14 final, while Leif Power nabbed the consolation with an 8-5 win over Quinn Fullerton in an all-Truro final.
Truro's Josh MacMillan finished second with four wins in the under-12 division.
Jonathan Daunce needed five wins for the title while Duncan Addison was third with three wins.
Halifax's Michaela Pugsley won the under-12 girls division with five match wins, while Truro sisters Victoria and Sarah Smith were second and third respectively with three wins apiece.
Players were competing for points on the Tennis Nova Scotia circuit.

    It is very nice to see coverage at the Truro Tennis Club posted in the newspaper. This club is without a doubt one of the greatest places in Truro for young people to spend their free time in the summer. Kudos to Bruce Wright for his continued dedication.
