RiverBreeze Farm Market re-opens hours after small fire
ONSLOW - A fire closed a popular market here for a few hours Monday afternoon.
"There was some refrigeration work being done behind the building," RiverBreeze Farm Market owner Jim Lorraine explained from the scene. The fire "didn't happen in the main part of the store, it just happened over the coolers."
Behind the store people were working to repair the damaged part of the wall while fans were going inside the shop to remove the smoke.
"We took all our computers out just in case," Lorraine said, crediting firefighters for containing the fire. "If North River wasn't as quick as they were there could have been some problems."
Lorraine was in town getting some lunch when he received a call that there was smoke inside the building. Employees were able to get out safely and after a specialized machine was brought in to remove the smell of smoke and the power was reconnected the shop re-opened at 4 p.m.
Lorraine, the well-known businessman, maintained a positive outlook yesterday even joking, "Maybe we'll have a smoked pork chop sale."
