Colchester County fighters prove their mettle at weekend cards

BIBLE HILL - A pair of fight cards at the Agridome on the weekend were a success for their Colchester County participants.
Of their 11 fighters in an 11-bout kickboxing card Saturday, nine Marmac Athletics athletes came away with wins, while two of the five Truro Amateur Boxing Club fighters won their matches on a 12-bout card Friday.
Saturday's event packed about 750 people into the Agridome, while about 500 turned out Friday.
World bronze medalist Micky Marshall won his Muay Thai match against Pat Pytlik of Ontario, while Marmac teammate Ryan Burgess defeated Ontario's Chris DaCosta in a second-round stoppage.
Marmac's Danica Ellis defeated Ontario's Mackenzie Wright in a unanimous decision with Truro's Pat Carroll claimed victory over P.E.I.'s Shawn McCarthy in a second-round stoppage.
Marmac's Joel Taylor, Scott Nauss, Ryan Geldart, Patrick Bell and Joel Leblanc also won their bouts, while Ambyr MacBurnie suffered a loss to Ontario's Sarah Newman, who has seven fights under her belt to MacBurnie's one.
Marmac's Ashley David participated in
an exhibition fight against the Island's Allie Boutle.
In Friday's main event, Truro's Jack Stoker handed national champion Brian Kilpatrick, of Newfoundland, a loss on points, while teammate Kitpu MacDonald fell by one point in a decision against Halifax's Brandon Helef.
Truro clubmates Mallory Colpitts and Nicole Spiddell faced off against each other in an exhibition bout. Ryan Dillman won his ring debut in an exhibition bout against P.E.I.'s Keegan McCarville.
