SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - Nova Scotia's Colleen Pinkney and Manitoba's Lois Fowler are headed for a first-place showdown at the 2009 Canadian senior curling championships tonight.
Nova Scotia, which faces P.E.I.'s Shirley Berry (2-6) this afternoon, leads the women's field at 8-0 (won-lost). Manitoba, which is 9-1, will close out its round robin against Nova Scotia.
"We came with the expectations of doing well, have a good record and try to get to the playoffs," said Nova Scotia third Wendy Currie. "We love the ice, we're having a great time, we're enjoying all the curling we're doing and all the teams."
Nova Scotia and Manitoba were victorious twice Wednesday. Pinkney won 5-3 over British Columbia's Kathy Smiley (8-2) and 7-3 over Wendy Ondrack (2-8) of the Northwest Territories/Yukon.
