BIBLE HILL - The Truro Saints were shut out of a championship in the three divisions of the rugby sevens tournament on the weekend at the MacMillan Show Centre.
The Saints, however, downed Halifax Tars 4-2 in the Men's A consolation final.
Enfield RFC scored in the final minute of the game to beat The Ottawa Irish RFC 3-2 in the Men's A final, while the University of Toronto Thunder defeated Riverlake RFC 6-0 for the Men's B title.
Halifax RFC took both gold and silver in the women's division with two squads in a 3-1 match.
Organizer Andrew Russell said he was happy with how the tournament went.
"Everything was great," he said. "I
think everyone had a great time and it was very successful."
Russell said the show centre's stands were packed all weekend, not just from the 888 players from the 74 teams at the three-day event.
"Quite a few people came out to watch," he said. "It wasn't just all players in the stands."
Russell wished to thanks all local sponsors and fans for supporting the Truro Rugby Club.
