BIBLE HILL - One of the most relaxing aspects of Christmas is driving around looking at the beautifully decorated homes.
Thursday night I had the opportunity to be one of the Light Up Bible Hill judges. Close to 30 people, only a handful of them judges, packed into a bus and toured Bible Hill to view the area's finest lights. Although there were officially 16 properties entered in the contest, any home that captured the attention or caused someone to excitedly point was added as a possible winner.
This was my second year as a judge and although we each had varying opinions as to what constituted the best of the best, there were some obvious standouts.
For example, this year's winner, 20 Fernhill Dr., had originality (a Santa runway), homemade decorations and a variety of colours.
Other properties could be seen streets away with the number of lights commanding attention. These, too, were hard to pass up as worthy opponents in the competition.
Ultimately, 20 Fernhill Dr. dominated the attention of the majority of people on the bus. Second-place honours were given to
30 Forest Hill Dr. for its beautifully lit and full yard display, while 23 Edward Ave. (second-place winner last year) claimed third place for the huge amount of work that went into filling the entire front yard with decorations and lights.
