FREDERICTON – Despite posting the fastest lap of the day, Dylan Blenkhorn was just not quick enough to claim his third podium of the season.
The 19-year-old Truro native narrowly missed the podium over the weekend at the Irving Oil Blending and Packaging 100, landing in fourth place.
Blenkhorn, in the No. 67 car, did manage to take home the Atlantic Tiltload Fast Time award, however, with a blazing lap of 13.635 seconds.
Shawn Turple, of Enfield, took home top spot after claiming the lead on lap 72 when then-leader Shawn Tucker jumpstarted his third restart in the caution-filled race. Tucker led for the majority of the race.
For Blenkhorn, it was his fourth time kicking off the day with the fastest lap. He entered the race having won the previous two races at Scotia Speedworld and Petty International Raceway.
In a breakout sophomore season, Blenkhorn currently sits fourth in the standings with 967 points. Halifax’s John Flemming leads the tour with 997 points.
Blenkhorn will be back in action next weekend at the IWK 250 at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish.
