SACKVILLE, N.B. - New Brunswick RCMP are close to confirming the identity of a body found in a car that burned after slamming into a fuel tank in Sackville.
Sgt. Paul Ouellette said Wednesday they believe they know the identity of the deceased but were waiting for an autopsy and dental records to confirm it.
The car failed to make a turn on Crescent Street around 1 p.m. Tuesday and hit a diesel tank at a public works building, causing a large fire that sent thick smoke over Sackville.
An autopsy is to be performed Thursday in Fredericton.
The RCMP inspected the vehicle but found no mechanical problems that may have caused the crash.
