MHL announces 2014-15 schedule

TRURO - Despite being in the heart of summer, the Truro Bearcats now have an official date to count down towards.

The Maritime Junior A Hockey League officially released its schedule on Wednesday afternoon, with the Truro Bearcats kicking off the road to their title defense on the road the Woodstock Slammers on Sept. 11.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Bearcats will be a part of MHL history, as they take on the expansion St. Stephen County Aces in the Aces first regular season game. It will also be the Aces first home game at the new Garcelon Civic Centre.

The Cats will face off with Dieppe in a 2014 Kent Cup rematch on Sept. 18 - their first time returning to the Arthur J. Leblanc Arena since winning the league finals in game six in April. The two teams will go toe-to-toe again on Oct. 11 in Dieppe, and at home Nov. 29.

The Cats will make their home debut on Sept. 20 with a 7 p.m. puck-drop against the Aces at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.

Following the 2015 Kent Cup Playoffs, the MHL representative will travel to Cornwall, Ontario, for the Fred Page Cup. Following that, the 2015 RBC Cup will be held in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
