TRURO – The Cobequid Cougars are off to provincials.

The Cougars swept their best-of-three qualifier with the Glace Bay Panthers, winning 7-3 Saturday in Truro and 6-3-Sunday in Cape Breton.

The provincials will be held this weekend in Antigonish.

Steve Unicomb led the way Saturday with two goals and three assists.

Also scoring in the victory were James Shapleigh, Dan MacKinnon, Michael Tompkins, Graham MacNevin and Derek Naugler.

Shapleigh, Tompkins and Fraser White each added a pair of assists while singles went to MacNevin, Naugler, Marcus Boudreau, Hardy Callaghan and Brandon Shute.

James Rushton made 18 saves for the win.

Shapleigh added two goals in the clinching game with singles coming from Naugler, Callaghan, Unicomb and Matt Symes.

White, MacNevin and Symes each added a pair of assists while singles went to Ryan Bentley and Shapleigh.

Dan Myette made 19 saves for the victory.
