Truro looks to get offence rolling Monday night against Dieppe
TRURO - The Truro Bearcats have clinched a playoff spot now it's time to make a move up the standings.
That starts tonight when they host the Dieppe Commandos, who have won only seven games all season, in the first of four games in the next six days.
"It's a big week for us, starting with Dieppe, and we need to find a way to win games whether it's 10-9 or 2-1," coach Shawn Evans said Sunday.
"We're at that stage of the season, if we want to be in a good spot two weeks from now, when the regular season is over, we're going to have to find a way to win games."
Truro (25-16-1-3) comes into the contest following a 3-1 setback Saturday against an explosive Summerside Western Capitals squad, which has won three of the four games with Truro this season.
The game was tied 1-1 heading to the third period but Neil Sherren scored the winner 4:34 into the final frame and Nathan DesRoches scored 10 minutes later to seal the victory.
Ryan Moore from Jordan Mock scored Truro's lone goal.
While unable to get the win, Evans said there were many positives to take from the game's final two periods.
"(We) looked after their power play, looked after their top line, kept the shots down and at the end of the day, same old thing, we're not finishing around the net (and) it's costing us," Evans said.
Spencer Scott made 27 saves but took the loss while Paul Dorsey was the winner with 29 saves.
"You can't dwell on the negatives, you have to take the positives and you have to keep going at this time of the year," Evans said.
Truro sits in fourth place in the Maurice Bent Division, one point back of third-place Yarmouth while holding three games in hand over the Mariners.
