DARTMOUTH – Truro’s Chris Topshee walked away from the MCT Men’s Amateur on Sunday afternoon as the top Colchester competitor, finishing seventh from a field of 58 finishers.
Topshee, who headed into the day in ninth place, shot a third round 72, matching his score from Friday’s second round. He’d finish five shots back of the leader, Ken Wo’s Ally Tidcombe.
Topshee started off the tournament on Thursday with a bang, shooting an opening round 67. He’d fall down the leaderboard on Friday, shooting a 72, before Saturday’s third round was shut down due to post-tropical storm Arthur.
Truro’s Jeff Van Wart finished the tournament at +17, after shooting a final round 73. Despite blustery conditions, he was able to improve over his previous round by three strokes.
Truro’s third competitor who survived the cut was Paul Coulson, who finished at +21 with a third round score of 77.
