LIVERPOOL, N.S. - Colleen Pinkney won her final match at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Saturday, but it wasn't enough to get her into the playoff round.
The Truro-based Pinkney squad also includes mate Wendy Currie, second Karen Hennigar, lead Susan Creelman, alternate Shelley MacNutt and coach Judy Burgess.
The 8-5 win over CFB Halifax's Sarah Rhyno left Pinkney with a 3-4 record at the event in Liverpool, coming up one game short of forcing a tie-breaker.
Pinkney scored single points in the first two ends to grab a 2-0 lead and never looked back, scoring two in both the seventh and eighth ends to secure the victory.
Dartmouth's Nancy McConnery (7-2) won the event, defeating Mary-Anne Arsenault (5-2) 5-4 in 10 ends in Sunday's final. McConnery overcame a 3-0 deficit after the first two ends for the victory.
The Pinkney foursome, the defending national senior women's champion, is now switching its focus to the provincial senior women's championship Feb. 24 to 28 at Digby Curling Club.
