Banks improves score at Day 2 of national junior golf tourney

KITCHENER, Ont. - Truro's Eric Banks knocked nine shots off his score in Tuesday's second round of the Canadian Junior Boys Golf Championship at Westmount Golf and Country Club in Kitchener, Ont.
The 16-year-old fired 1-under-par 72 Tuesday to move up the leaderboard into a 12-way draw for 63rd. Banks enters today's third round at 7-over 153. The event wraps up Thursday.
East Mountain's Craig Dale is in a four-way tie for 142nd after having his round cut short Tuesday because of inclement weather. He held a 23 over the first five holes.
Dale will finish his second round this morning with Round 3 starting immediately after.
New Minas' Sam Holland leads the Nova Scotian team at the event, sitting at even par for a three-way share of eighth place. He shot 75 Tuesday.
MacKenzie Hughes, of Dundas, Ont., Mitch Sutton, of London, Ont., and Maple Ridge, B.C.'s Justin Shin are tied atop the leaderboard at 6-under.
