TRURO – The Truro Bearcats senior baseball squad is rolling again, as they downed the Kentville Wildcats 15-8 on Tuesday night.
The Bearcats third win in a row moved the team to one game above .500 with a record of 12 wins, 11 losses.
Jeff Chisholm led the way offensively for the Bearcats, notching a pair of doubles and driving in four runs. Darson Murphy doubled, added two singles and three RBI, while Ryan Bates and Adam Lombard also drove in pairs of runs.
Offense exploded late in the game, as Kentville stormed back with a five-run seventh inning to tie the game at sevens. The Bearcats followed up with three runs in the bottom half, and five more in the eighth to put it away.
John Chapman picked up the win for Truro after coming in to pitch in the seventh. Cody Shrider took the loss for Kentville.
The win moves the Bearcats to within two-and-a-half games of Halifax for second place in the standings, and gives them an even three-game cushion on the Sydney Sooners heading into their weekend series.
The Sooners will host Truro for a Friday night matchup, before the two teams go at it in a double-header on Saturday. The Bearcats will return home on Tuesday, hosting the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry at 7:30 p.m.
