John Chapman pitched nine innings, giving up six hits to pick up the victory for the Bearcats. The team will now gear up for a Tuesday night tilt with Dartmouth, the league's leading team.
That’s the method the Truro Bearcats senior team took into Kentville on Wednesday night, holding the Wildcats to one run and six hits over nine innings, to win 3-1.
Coach and part-time chucker, John Chapman, led the Bearcats on the mound, throwing a complete game to pick up the team’s third win on the season.
Jeff Chisholm and Mike Tobin drove in runs for the Cats, while Guy Pellerine posted two of Truro’s five hits.
For the Wildcats, Kyle Dougan drove in the lone run, while Mike Lockhart and John Ansara had a pair of doubles each, and Jason Pleasant-Sampson had two singles.
The Bearcats are now 3-5 on the season, four games back of the undefeated Dartmouth Moosehead Dry for first place. The two teams will face off next Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., at the TAAC Grounds in Truro.
