TRURO - The Truro Bearcats lost a pair of one-run games in Sydney on the weekend in Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League action.
Truro lost the opener 7-6 Friday night with Jason Smith being tagged with the loss.
Guy Pellerine had a grand slam homerun and a single while Scott Baillie had three singles and Joe MacPherson a pair of singles.
The Cats lost Game 2 4-3 on Saturday with Craig Field taking the loss. The host team scored three in the fourth to erase a 2-1 deficit and never looked back.
Matt Davis, Pellerine, Adam Lombard and Baillie each singled twice.
The second game of the day was cancelled due to rain.
Truro lost 13-8 to the Canadians last Tuesday in Halifax after the home side broke open a 5-4 game with eight runs in the seventh inning.
Brandon Malally while Jacob Moffat, Daniel Bates and Pellerine pitched in relief.
Pellerine had a home run and two RBI while Tyler Delaney had a single and a triple and Matt Davis had two singles and a double.
The Bearcats (6-11) return to action Tuesday when they host the first-place Dartmouth Moosehead Dry at 7:30 p.m. at the TAAC Grounds.
NOTES... Dartmouth added six players to its roster for the Canadian Senior Baseball Championship, to be held in Chatham, N.B., from Aug. 25 to 28. None of the pickups are Bearcats.
The additions are pitcher Marek Deska (Toronto Maple Leafs of the Ontario Inter-County League), ex-Dry second baseman Robert Gillis (), pitcher Kevin Nichols and shortstop Ian Lockhart (Kentville), versatile Jason Snow and catcher Matt Denney (Sydney).
