Daniel Perigo will be looked upon to provide leadership both on and off the ice this season.
TRURO - This year, the Truro Bearcats have three fourth year Bearcats who will be looked upon for leadership, beginning Sunday with the opening of Truro's eighteenth camp. Daniel Perigo, Colby Lanceleve and David Mosher, all 20-year-olds, know the ropes and should be invaluable for the long haul. The Bearcats have a strong nucleus of returnees and this trio is at the very core.
Perigo, a Truro native, came up through the Truro and Area minor program. Following a solid stint with the Kwik Kopy Bantam Bearcats he progressed to the Midget ranks as a member of the Pictou County Weeks. Team captain and midget league all-star in his second season made him a natural territorial choice by the Bearcats in 2011. He had a strong P.E.I. Rocket camp before reporting to the Bearcats for his 2011-2012 rookie season. Over the last three seasons he has honed his 200-foot game and built a reputation for being tough to play against. For the Bearcats, that's all good.
Catch the Bearcats in inter-squad play. The prospects strut their stuff Sunday (7 p.m.), Monday (1 p.m. and 8 p.m.), Tuesday (6 p.m.), Wednesday (6 p.m.) and Thursday (5 p.m.). All sessions are at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.
Gerry Hale is media relations co-ordinator for the Truro junior A Bearcats.
