BROOKFIELD - The 25th annual Brookfield Elks golf scramble was decided in a playoff on Sunday after two teams completed 18 holes with scores of 8-under-par 62.

Cliff Kruck rolled in a 20-foot putt in the playoff to propel his team of Darrell Penney, Paul Brown and Keith Finck to victory. The team of Cory Sutherland, Jack Roop, Jamie Works, Brent Harrison and Brookes Van Tassell finished second.

Gerry Archibald won the closet to the pin competition, as his tee ball on the 168-yard ninth hole stopped 3' 11" from the cup.

The scramble was rescheduled from July due to tropical storm Arthur and attracted 95 participants.

The event, started in 1990, the year Brookfield Golf Club opened, and continues to generate funds that allows the organizing Brookfield Athletic Association to sponsor individuals and teams, and provide coaching and facilities to both genders and all ages, in nine different sports.
