Ryan Ellis came up clutch for Team Truro at the last installment of the Best of the Best Team Showdown against P.E.I.’s top drivers. The two teams will be in action again on Friday night, with races getting underway 6 p.m. at Truro Raceway.
The first showing saw Team Truro take the lead over its P.E.I. counterparts, wracking up 107 points to Charlottetown’s 81.
The Truro squad consists of Darren Crowe, with over 1,000 career victories and in the running for top driver so far this year; Ryan Ellis, last year’s top driver; and up-and-comers Paul Langille and Adam Merner.
On the Charlottetown side, O’Brien Award-winner Marc Campbell leads the squad, along with Jason Hughes, Jack Painting and Stephen Shepherd.
The idea behind the races is to create exposure for the local drivers, and spark a rivalry to bring fans to the track. Each team consists of the track’s top two drivers, plus the best two amateurs.
The beer garden will be open for the races, which get underway at 6 p.m. at Truro Raceway. There will be live entertainment aside from the racing, with a band playing throughout the evening.
The Red Shores commentary team will be over from Charlottetown, calling the races and broadcasting live online.
