NEW GLASGOW - Colchester County runners fared well at the Johnny Miles marathon on Sunday in New Glasgow.
Tawnya MacNeil of Truro Heights was the top local runner, clocking a time of 3:18:12 to finish 13th overall. MacNeil's time was the second fastest among ladies and qualified her for the Boston Marathon.
Truro's John McClellan (3:31:10), Christopher Newell (3:57:10) and Eric Manuel (4:58:07) also ran in the event.
Dave MacLennan of Scotsburn, Pictou County, won his 10th Johnny Miles marathon in a time of 2:47:26. Leah Jabbour of Halifax was the women's winner with a time of 3:14:44.
In the half marathon, Tim Boutilier of Truro Heights (1:25:13) was fifth and Truro's Jody Mattie (1:32:31) was 13th.
In the 10K event, Truro's Rob Carreau (36:50) was ninth and his wife Lavinia (39:25) was 15th.
Tatamagouche resident Matthew Smith (19:39) finished sixth in the 5K, while Truro's Emily Annand (20:53) was 13th and Truro's Matthew Hamm (20:36) was 15th.
Truro's Keigan Thorpe (17:23) won the student challenge 5K, while Bible Hill runner Judith Lapierre (21:07) was 14th.
