Burgess, Green drop Friday games at masters curling championships

COALDALE, Alta. - Truro teams fell to 3-4 on Friday at the Canadian masters curling championships.

Judy Burgess was edged 4-3 by Alberta's Jean Quigley, while Dwayne Green was nipped 6-5 by Alberta's Les Rogers.

Burgess, third Helen Brightman, second Karen Hennigar and lead Penny Neily, played against Manitoba's Pat Malanchuk on Friday night.

Lorraine Jefferies of B.C. and Ontario's Diana Favel sit atop the women's standings with 6-1 records.

Green and his teammates of mate Wayne Scisson, second Larry Higgins and lead Ralph Murphy faced Northern Ontario's Gordon Williams on Friday.

Saskatchewan's Eugene Hritzuk leads the men's standings with a 7-0 record.
