Truro rinks 1-1 at masters curling championship

COALDALE, Alta. - Truro's Dwayne Green rebounded on Tuesday for a victory at the Canadian masters men's curling championship.

Green defeated Ron Aube of New Brunswick 7-5 to improve his record to 1-1 at the 12-team championship.

The Truro foursome, which also consists of third Wayne Scisson, second Larry Higgins and lead Ralph Murphy, dropped its opening game 8-1 to Eugene Hritzuk of Saskatchewan on Monday.

Green played Tuesday night against Gordon Zealand of the Yukon (visit trurodaily.com for result).

In women's action, Truro's Judy Burgess lost 6-2 to Marion Clarke of Northern Ontario on Tuesday to fall to 1-1.

Burgess, third Helen Brightman, second Karen Hennigar and lead Penny Neily, won their opening game on Monday, a 9-4 decision over Quebec's France Prevost.  

Burgess played on Tuesday night against New Brunswick's Fran Meehan (visit trurodaily.com for result).
