The Truro Curling Club skip, along with Helen Brightman, Karen Hennigar and Penny Neily, defeated Quebec's France Prevost 9-4 in their opening game at the week-long event.
Burgess takes on Northern Ontario's Marion Clark today at 11:30 a.m. Atlantic time.
