Major bantam Cats ready for camp, hand out awards

TRURO - The Truro Bearcats will soon start preparing for the 2014-15 major bantam hockey season.

The team will be holding its annual spring evaluation camp April 15, 16 and 22 at RECC. Ice times are 7 to 9 p.m. on each date and the cost is $75.

The camp is open to all players born in 2000 and 2001 from Colchester and Cumberland counties interested in playing at the major bantam level next season.

The Bearcats also held their annual banquet and handed out awards for the 2013-14 season.

Ben Higgins was named the team's MVP with 29 points (13G, 16A) in 31 games. Jack Lynds, who cracked the league's second team all-star roster, was presented with the coach's award.

The rookie of the year honour went to Alec MacDonald while Cam Allaby was named the team's most dedicated player and Reuben MacKenzie was most improved.
