KENTVILLE – The Truro Bearcats are heading home with a 2-0 lead over the Valley Wildcats in their Maritime Junior Hockey League Eastlink Division semifinal series.

The Bearcats skated to a 5-2 victory over the Wildcats on Tuesday at Kentville Centennial Arena and sit in the driver’s seat in the best-of-seven affair.
Game 3 is Thursday in Truro at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre, beginning at 7 p.m.
Jeff Hanes scored two goals for the Bearcats, including an empty-netter to ice it with 2:10 remaining in the contest.
Colby Lanceleve, on a power play, Daniel Perigo and Jordan Wentzell also scored for Truro, which fell behind 1-0 just 1:18 into the game, but rallied for four straight goals to take command.
Mike Molloy and Austin Harding scored for the Wildcats, who put forth a much grittier effort than they did in the opening game last Saturday – a 7-1 loss in Truro.
The Bearcats peppered Wildcats goalie Blade Mann-Dixon with 44 shots, while the home team pushed back and fired 41 shots at Chris Festarini.
Hanes was named the game’s first star, while Molloy was second and Festarini was third.
