Soft Touch, Gutter Done on brink of berths in commercial league final

DEBERT - Carstar Collision staved off elimination with a 7-1 win over Soft Touch Car Wash in recent Labatt West Colchester Commercial Hockey League playoff action.

Soft Touch leads the best-of-five affair 2-1.

Ryan Butcher and Shane Holman each scored a pair of goals for Carstar while Aaron Taylor, John Blaauwendraat and Morgan MacDonald notched single markers. Butcher and Taylor each added a pair of assists and Tony Faulkner was the winning goaltender.

Thomas Whidden responded with the lone Soft Touch tally with help from matt McClellan. The two sides face off again tonight at 10 p.m. at West Colchester United Arena.

In other action, the Gutter Done Thunder put Hub Well Drilling on the ropes with a 4-1 victory. Gutter Done leads the series 2-1.

Jason Spares scored twice with Josh Kennedy and Brad Richey rounding out the scoring. Kevin LeBlanc provided a pair of assists and Kelly Hirtle recorded the victory.

Brian Shreenan answered with the Hub Well Drilling marker with help from Catlin Staples.

The series resumes tonight at 9 p.m. in Debert.
