Hurricanes men, Tommies women claim ACAA hoops titles

BIBLE HILL - The Holland Hurricanes laid claim to their second consecutive ACAA men's basketball title Sunday at the conference championship at Langille Athletic Centre.

The Hurricanes defeated the Crandall Chargers 88-74 in the final of the three-day event.

The Hurricanes will represent the ACAA at the national championship March 13 to 15 at Quest University in Squamish, B.C.

Alvin Parker led the Hurricanes men with 28 points and claimed the player of the game award while Chase Bowden buried 21. Osman Barrie, player of the game for Crandall, collected 23 points.

Kelly Vass paced the Tommies with 15 points and was named player of the game while Hurricanes player of the game Jazlin Barker countered with 12.
