Colchester players locked in junior B playoff battles

TRURO - The East Hants Penguins dropped a 4-1 decision to the Valley Maple Leafs Sunday in Game 2 of their Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoff series.

The result leaves the Penguins trailing 2-0 in the best-of-seven Fred Fox Division semifinal. Game 3 is Friday at 7:30 p.m. at East Hants Sportsplex.

The Penguins roster boasts three Colchester County players in Truro's Jordan Lauther and James Shapleigh and Stewiacke resident Cole Baker.

The Bay Ducks also trail 2-0 in their series with the defending champion Sackville Blazers.

Stewiacke's Connor Baker and Bible Hill's Dan Bates are members of the Ducks, which finished third in the Fred Fox Division this season while the Blazers were second.

The Pictou County Scotians knotted their Sid Rowe semifinal 1-1 on Sunday with a 5-2 victory over the Strait Pirates.

Bible Hill's Spencer Scott made 41 saves for the Scotians while Brookfield's Zach Bates is also a member of the team. Game 3 of that series is slated for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Trenton Arena.
