TRURO - Colleen Pinkney successfully defended her provincial senior women's curling title Sunday at Amherst Curling Club.

Pinkney (4-1), and her Truro Curling Club rink of Wendy Currie, Shelley MacNutt and Susan Creelman defeated Glooscap's's Jocelyn Nix (2-3) 10-7 in the final of the three-day event.

The victory earns Pinkney a trip to the national championship in Yellowknife March 22 to 29.

Pinkney, also the defending national champion, will be attending the world championship in Dumfries, Scotland, Apr. 23 to 29.

Tied 6-6 after seven ends, Pinkney scored one in the seventh, before Nix countered with one in the ninth. Pinkney then scored three points in the 10th end to clinch the title.

Pinkney fell 7-6 to Nix earlier in the day but had a double-life in the final, forcing the afternoon draw.
