TRURO – There’s plenty of Colchester County flavor in this year’s edition of the AUS men’s hockey playoffs.

The university hockey postseason got underway Wednesday as the UPEI Panthers and Saint Mary’s Huskies met in Charlottetown while the Moncton Blue Eagles and St. Francis Xavier X-Men locked horns in Moncton in their best-of-three conference quarterfinals.

The Panthers feature the most Colchester County connections with fourth-year forward and Tatamagouche native Dana Fraser and first-year defenceman Casey Babineau, a Beaver Brook native. Mathew Brenton, a fourth-year student from Stewiacke, is also a member of the team.

Also in the UPEI lineup is former Truro Bearcat Colin Beck, a Charlottetown native.

The X-Men also possess some Colchester talent with Truro’s Dylan Frank, a first-year student, in the crease.

Organizations: Moncton Blue Eagles

Geographic location: Colchester County, Charlottetown, Saint Mary Moncton Tatamagouche Beaver Brook Stewiacke
