Heather Moyse going for gold in Sochi

SOCHI - Prince Edward Island’s Heather Moyse and Kaillie Humphries are aiming for top honours in the Winter Olympics.

Maritimers will be watching Moyse, a Summerside native, compete in her third Olympics on Tuesday.

The Canada One sled’s first of two heats is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Atlantic. The two-woman Olympic bobsleigh is on TV beginning at 11 a.m. Atlantic on TSN 2 and 11:15 a.m. on CBC-TV.

The City of Summerside is inviting the public to gather at Credit Union Place to cheer on Moyse and Humphries and wear red and white to show their Canadian colours.

“Heather is a wonderful ambassador for Summerside as she travels the world representing Canada, Prince Edward Island and her hometown of Summerside. I encourage everyone to come out to Credit Union place to cheer her on as she tries for a second gold medal in Sochi,” said Summerside Mayor Basil Stewart.

The final two heats of the women’s bobsleigh are on Wednesday. Moyse and Humphries are the reigning Olympic gold medalist from Vancouver 2010.
