TRURO - Truro Bearcats forward Brandon Pye has been recognized by the Maritime Junior Hockey League for a big week.
Pye, a 19-year-old Mount Pearl, Nfld., native, potted three goals and added a pair of assists to help his Bearcats to a pair of weekend wins. His effort included a four-point night with two goals and two assists Saturday in a 5-2 win over the Dieppe Commandos. His assists came on the game-winning and insurance tallies earning himself the game's first-star honour.
The six-foot, 195-pounder also scored Friday against the Valley Wildcats in a 5-3 win giving him a four-game point streak.
Pye now has 38 points (16G, 22A) this season and his closing in on his rookie campaign effort of 41 last year.
The Bearcats (32-11-0-2) are back in action Wednesday when they host the Woodstock Slammers (23-18-2-1) at 7 p.m. at RECC.
Bryce Milson of the Miramichi Timberwolves was named the league's first star while third-star honours went to Kyle Campbell of the Yarmouth Mariners.
