Colchester players set to open junior B playoffs this week

TRURO - There are still plenty of options for Colchester County fans to throw their support behind in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The postseason got underway Monday as the No. 2 Sackville Blazers hosted the No.3 Bay Ducks in their best-of-seven Fred Fox Division semifinal.

The Ducks roster features Bible Hill's Dan Bates and Stewiacke resident Connor Baker.

The Pictou County Scotians, with Bible Hill's Spencer Scott in the crease, open their Sid Rowe Division semifinal Friday in Port Hawkesbury against the Strait Pirates.

The No. 4 East Hants Penguins, who take on the No. 1 Valley Maple Leafs in the other Fred Fox semi, feature the most Colchester talent with Truro's Jordan Lauther and James Shapleigh and Stewiacke's Cole Baker in the lineup. That series gets underway Friday in Windsor.

The No. 1 Glace Bay Miners and No. 4 Antigonish Bulldogs face off in the other Sid Rowe semifinal.
