Elks close junior B hockey season against rival Penguins tonight

BROOKFIELD – The Brookfield Elks close the books tonight on a tough campaign in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.

The Elks (5-23-3-2) host the rival East Hants Penguins (17-10-2-1) at 7:30 p.m. at Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex.

The rebuilding Elks, last in the six-team Fred Fox Division, are well out of a playoff spot while East Hants holds onto the fourth and final postseason berth with a four-point cushion over the Eastern Shore Mariners (15-13-2-1). East Hants is just four points behind the third-place Bay Ducks (19-9-2-1).

Recent history is on East Hants’ side, with the Penguins winning al four meetings between the clubs this season.

The Penguins roster sports former Elks Jordan Lauther, James Shapleigh and Cole Baker, all of whom played in Brookfield last season.
