Rams turn aside Hurricanes in ACAA women’s volleyball

BIBLE HILL – The Dalhousie Rams swept the Holland College Hurricanes 3-0 in their recent ACAA women’s volleyball matchup.

The result allows the Rams (9-6) to hold onto third place in the conference while the Hurricanes (1-15) are last among seven teams.

The Rams sit just two points clear of the Saint John Seawolves (8-7) who hold down the fourth and final playoff spot with three games remaining in the regular season. The Rams are on the road to meet the Mount St. Vincent Mystics (16-0) Wednesday at 7 p.m. before the Mount Alison Mounties visit Friday at 7 p.m. The Sainte Anne Dragons are in town Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Rams took the match against Holland College 25-12, 25-22, 25-23 at Langille Athletic Centre.

Thea MacLachlin paced the Rams with 11 kills and 12 digs while Truro’s Samantha Fanning collected 10 kills and eight digs. Katie MacQueen made 15 digs and Truro’s Sarah Matheson racked up seven kills.

Nikki Baker was the top player for the Hurricanes with eight kills and four digs.
