Whalers slip past Bearcats in major bantam hockey tilt

TRURO - The Truro Bearcats were nipped 5-4 by the Dartmouth Whalers recently in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Bearcats (2-24-5) are 11th in the 12-team league, six points ahead of Kings (0-26-3). The Whalers (17-10-4) are fifth.

The Bearcats have two games remaining in the regular season, starting Saturday when they host the Scotsburn Crushers (7-22-2) at 4 p.m. at RECC. Truro travels to Berwick to take on Kings on Sunday.

Ben Higgins did most of the damage for Truro with three goals while Matthew Smith rounded out the scoring and chipped in an assist.

Jack Lynds made 35 saves in the Truro net.

Former Valley resident Jared McIsaac scored for Dartmouth.
