TRURO - Kelly MacIntosh missed out on a provincial women's curling title Sunday at Sydney Curling Club.

The Truro native, curling out of Dartmouth, was doubled 6-3 in Sunday's Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts final by Mayflower's Heather Smith.

Smith moves on to the national championship tournament Feb. 1 to 9 in Montreal.

Smith (8-0) took a 1-0 lead in the second end, which she would never relinquish despite the see-saw battle that ensued.

MacIntosh (7-2) knotted the contest in the fourth end before Smith scored two in the sixth for a 3-1 cushion. But MacIntosh managed to score two in the eighth to tie the game again before Smith clinched the victory with three in the 10th end.

MacIntosh headed a foursome which also included Jill Brothers, Blisse Joyce and Teri Lake.
