The Truro Bearcats were involved in some trading before deadline day (Friday) was over.
The Bearcats traded Alex Hazelhurst and Jean-Marc Evans Renaud to the Valley Wildcats for forward Brandon Boutilier and a 7th round selection in the 2014 MHL Entry Draft.
Boutilier, 20, had been the Valley Wildcats team captain and had nine points this season.
Wildcats head coach and general manager Nick Greenough said trading Boutilier was the toughest decision he had made to make so far in that role but going to Truro in a great opportunity for the player in his final year of Junior hockey.
Hazelhurst, 19, posted 18 points in 20 games with the Bearcats year after spending time with the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the QMJHL but is taking this season off due to concussion issues. Evans-Renaud, 17, had five goals and four assists in 29 games with the Bearcats this season.
Neither Boutilier nor Evans-Renaud dressed for the Friday evening game between the Bearcats and Wildcats in Kentville, which Truro won 8 – 1.
