BROOKFIELD - The Brookfield Elks will have their hands full in their first game of 2014.
The Elks (5-16-3-1) host the Bay Ducks (14-5-1-0) tonight at 7:30 at Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex. Brookfield is last among six teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League's Fred Fox Division, nine points adrift of the Eastern Shore Mariners (11-11-1-0) while the Ducks sit in second spot.
The Elks are hoping to set a new tone in the new year after finishing 2013 on a five-game losing streak, dating back to Dec. 3.
The Ducks recorded wins in seven of their past nine games and have beaten the Elks in all three of their meetings this season.
The Elks have managed to keep things close between the two sides, falling by one goal on two occasions and losing by just two in their other tilt.
