TRURO - The Cougar Dome officially opened to the public on Thursday.
About 300 people filed through the doors as the CC Riders soccer club was using the $2.2-million dome’s artificial turf, while others played doubles and singles tennis for several hours. Others put the 300-foot running track to use.
“It’s extremely exciting,” manager Tanya Colburne said.
“Being officially opened on time and on budget, it’s all exciting.”
Although the building is now open, there are still some finishing touches being done. Some final pieces of equipment are still on the way, meaning the golf range is not yet available.
Phone and internet lines are being installed and other small tasks and the building should be fully operational early next week.
Until then, the turf and track are available to use, as well as the jumping pit and tennis courts.
