Host Team North falls in inaugural major bantam showcase in Truro

TRURO - Colchester County players were held off the scoresheet Saturday in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League showcase game at RECC.

The South defeated the North 7-5 in the contest, which also included a day of activities for the players before the game.

Each of the league's 12 teams sent three players to the first-time contest with forward Ben Higgins, defenceman Cam Allaby and goaltender Jack Lynds representing the Bearcats.

The Bearcats, Cape Breton Cougars, Antigonish X-Men, Newbridge Senators, Scotsburn Crushers and Kings Wildcats made up team North while the South consisted of the Bedford Barons, Halifax Hawks, Western Hurricanes, Dartmouth Whalers, St. Margaret's Bay Gulls and Cole Harbour Storm.

Alexander Allain, Bradley Shaw and Shane Bowers each scored twice for the South while Kyle Sexton notched a single tally.

Logan O'Neill answered with a pair of goals for the North with others coming from Derek Gentile, Shawn Miller and Briden Hawes.
