Truro teams struggle at KFC tournament

TRURO - The MacKenzie's Towing Truro Peewee A Bearcats split games on Friday at the KFC Christmas minor hockey tournament.

Truro Atom A Bearcats goaltender D.J. Oderkirk reaches back to keep the puck from crossing the goal line during action at the KFC Christmas minor hockey tournament on Friday. The Bearcats were blanked 12-0 by the East Hants Penguins in the contest that was played at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.

The Bearcats opened with a convincing 6-1 victory over the Eastern Shore Mariners, before a 3-1 loss to the South Shore Ice Sharks.

The peewee A squad was the lone Truro team to earn a win on the opening day of the tournament.

In the Atom A Division, the host Bearcats dropped a pair of games, losing 5-0 to South Shore and 12-0 to the East Hants Penguins.

The Pye's Chev-Olds Bearcats also went winless in a pair of games yesterday in the peewee AAA division, falling 5-2 to the Antigonish Bulldogs and 4-2 to the Sackville Flyers.

The Leon's Peewee AA Bearcats were beaten 7-1 by the Dartmouth Whalers.


The tournament continues this weekend at the RECC and Colchester Legion Stadium.
