TRURO - Throwers from the Truro Lions will get an opportunity to compete at home over the holidays.

The Absolutely Last Chance 2013 Throws Meet will take place Dec. 28 at the newly constructed Cougar Dome in Truro, beginning at 1 p.m.

Twenty-two athletes are registered for shot-put and weight throw events, including two-time Canada Games medalist David Bambrick; national youth medalist and Team Canada youth member Taylor Stutely; national junior champion and Team Canada member Peter Millman; Canada Games athletes Montana Forsyth, Robert Kennedy and Nathan Burris, and national champions Drew Erskine and Gregory McCarthy.

Millman enters the weight throw competition with the Canadian indoor record of 23.59m well within his sights - a goal he would love to achieve at home in his final competition as a junior-aged athlete.

This is the first of several meets to be held at the Cougar Dome, and the public is invited to watch and support the athletes who have made an impact on the national and international stages.
