Pictou County pulls closer to Islanders in major midget hockey

TRURO - Pictou County took advantage of a matchup with the Cape Breton West Islanders for a 7-1 win Saturday in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

Pictou County was also scheduled to host Halifax on Sunday but the game was cancelled due to poor road conditions.

The result pulls Pictou County (7-19-1-0) to within a point of the Islanders (7-16-2-0) for sixth in the eight-team league. Pictou County gets another crack at the Islanders Friday in Port Hood.

Mark Vokey and Cody Johnston both scored twice for Pictou County while Lane Cormier Liam Giffen and Evan MacLennan also scored.

Cormier and Lucas Sangster both collected three assists and Truro's Luke Melanson made 38 saves.

Truro's Noah Archibald, Matthieu Fougere, Lucas Rushton and Michael Stuart and Bible Hill's Lucas Holman are also members of the team.

    Yes, yes...there are Truro players on the Major Midget team. This is the second or third time you mentioned all the Truro players. My son also plays out of Pictou, Midget A, I don't see you reporting any of his games!
