Lynds, Allaby, Higgins to play in major bantam showcase game

TRURO - The hometown Truro Bearcats will be represented when the Rath Eastlink Community Centre hosts the Nova Scotia Bantam Hockey League showcase on Dec. 28.

Truro goaltender Jack Lynds, defenceman Cameron Allaby and forward Ben Higgins have been selected to play for Team North against Team South in the contest that gets underway at 4 p.m.

Teams include at least two representatives from each of the 12 league clubs. Players chosen are currently in their final year of bantam eligibility.

"The teams have now been selected and we are excited for the event on the 28th to showcase the talent we have within our league," said Todd Watson, NSMBHL president.

Tickets will be available the day of the game at the door. The general admission cost is $5. Kids under 10 will be admitted free.

Lynds (1-8-4) is the Bearcats starting goaltender. In 16 games he sports a 3.93 goals against average. Allaby, a steady defender, has a goal and five assists in 22 games, while Higgins leads the Bearcats in scoring with eight goals and 23 points in 22 games.

The Bearcats (2-16-4) are 11th in league standings. They return to action on Sunday when they host the Nova Jr. X Men at the RECC at 1 p.m.
