Elks handed major loss in Musquodoboit Harbour

MUSQUODOBOIT HARBOUR - The Brookfield Elks were handed an 11-1 loss on Saturday at the sticks of the Junior Mariners.

Ryan Ingraham notched the lone goal for Brookfield midway in the second period at the Eastern Shore Community Centre.

The Junior Mariners lead 3-0 on three power play goals in the first; 7-1 on two more power play goals in the second finishing up with four in the third.

Brandon Dorrington picked up his 2nd straight win while Brandon Archibald took the loss for Brookfield.

Final shots were 31-19 in favour of the Junior Mariners. 

The loss puts Brookfield six points out of the lead of the Fred Fox Division in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League play.

The Mariners, who picked up win number nine of the season, sit in fifth place.

The Elks will have a chance to redeem themselves when they host the Junior Mariners at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex on Tuesday. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.
