TRURO – Zach Sill is expected to lace up for the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight as they take on the San Jose Sharks.
Game time in Pittsburgh is 8 p.m. Atlantic time.
Sill, a 25-year-old Birch Hill native, is expected to play on the third line with Andrew Ebbett and Chris Connor.
It’ll be the first time Sill has played consecutive games for the club. He recorded a shot on goal and threw a pair of hits Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime win over the New York Islanders. He logged 8:17 of ice time in what was his third NHL contest.
Sill, a six-foot-two, 202-pound forward, has been with the club since Nov. 16, but has been a healthy scratch since Nov. 25 when he played 9:02 in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Boston Bruins.
His insertion on the third line for tonight’s tilt was helped by the loss of forward Evgeni Malkin, who is nursing a lower-body injury and will miss tonight’s contest. He’s listed as day-to-day.
Sill has spent the past five seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and has four points (1G, 3A) in 13 games this season.
He signed a one-year, two-way deal with Pittsburgh in July worth US$550,000 at the NHL level.
