TRURO – Pictou County split its pair of recent Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League contests with the Valley Wildcats.

Pictou County nipped its opponent 5-4 in game 2 after falling 6-2 in the opener.

The results held Pictou County (3-17-1-0) in last place in the eight-team league, three points behind the Cape Breton Tradesmen (4-13-0-2) while the Wildcats (12-5-2-3) sit fourth.

Truro’s Noah Archibald contributed a pair of assists to the Game 2 win while Mark Vokey scored twice. Other goals came from Matt Sartoris, Lane Cormier and Doug Barton. Matthew Williams made 39 saves for the win.

In Game 1, Cormier and Cody Johnston did the scoring. Truro resident Luke Melanson stopped 52 shots in the losing effort.

Pictou County is back in action Saturday when they host the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. at Pictou County Wellness Centre.

Truro’s Matthieu Fougere, Lucas Rushton and Michael Stuart and Bible Hill’s Lucas Holman are also members of the team.
